“Kashmir - The forgotten issue” event was organized by MUSLIM institute UK at Venue Central Britannia Estates, Luton on 1st of March 2014. Many politicians, businessmen, professionals and members of the general public attended the event. The event’s chief guest was Lord Qurban Hussain. Former Mayor of High Wycombe Mr. Mehbbob Bhatti, Councillor & former Lord Mayor of Luton Riaz Butt and Chaudary Ishtiaq Hussain of Al-Noor Foods were among the distinguished guests.

Presenter of the event Abdullah Shahnwaz welcomed the guests and invited Muhammad Jamshed for recitation of Holy Quran and Umer Khan for naat.

Addressing to the event Lord Qurban Hussain said that many organizations are working on the Kashmir issue, need of the time is that all organizations must collaborate with each other to attain common goal. He has elaborated some of his work on Kashmir as member of House of Lords.

Ali Asghar Research Associate of MUSLIM Institute gave comprehensive introduction of MUSLIM Institute.
He gave detailed presentation on formation of MUSLIM institute, its Founder, mission and objectives. He described all the existing desks and activities of MUSLIM institute. Key achievements of the Institute were also highlighted.

Fahim Khalid Research Associate of MUSLIM Institute highlighted key developments in Kashmir for last 60 years.
He defined how Kashmir issue has become more theory than practice. Plenty of resolutions have been passed in United Nations but without any substantial development.

This longest standing conflict in the world has seen many freedom struggles. India has made many Draconian Laws to curb the freedom movement in Kashmir and international human right regime has been maintaining disappointing silence on these laws.
He precisely told the audience how MUSLIM institute is working on Kashmir issue by it's designated Kashmir desk. MULSLIM institute is having monthly roundtable discussions, Bi-monthly Kashmir watch, publication and documentaries, rallies and walks and quarterly seminars.

Former Mayor of High Wycombe Mehboob Bhatti applauded the efforts of MUSLIM institute on Kashmir. He urged the youngsters to come forward and take meaningful part in struggle for Kashmir. People must also choose those councilors or Member of Parliament who have close eye on Kashmir.

Chaudary Ishtiaq Hussain of Al-Noor Foods said that he is very pleased to see MUSLIM institute as a think tank taking on core issues. Furthermore he said that Kashmir issue is not forgotten and will never be forgotten. Pure intention and research-based work will attract more international attention.

Councillor & former Lord Mayor of Luton Riaz Butt in his address said that he is always up for Kashmir Issue. Individual efforts are there but collective effort of people will bring the Kashmir issue on the front stage of the world.

Muhammad Ali Iftikhar Research Associate of MUSLIM institute gave introduction of “The Muslim Debate”, which is part of MUSLIM institute’s efforts to bring intellectuals and researchers on one platform and have a constructive discussion. This Oxford style debate platform will go live in April.

|
Barrister Mian Atif Research Associate of MUSLIM Institute gave insight into future programs of MUSLIM Institute, specially the upcoming two days International Kashmir Conference in March 2014 in Islamabad. Also gave the details of a College, which will be established by MUSLIM Institute to groom the future leaders.

Members of the public participated through interactive session and asked questions about Kashmir issue as well as MUSLIM Institute. Dinner was served at the end of event.
