The second day of the Islamabad conference, co-organized by the MUSLIM Institute, National Language Promotion Department, and Yunus Emre Institute, continued exploring the legacies of Mevlana Rumi and Hadrat Sultan Bahoo. The fifth academic session focused on a comparative study of their works, highlighting how both mystics countered modern alienation by emphasizing intuition, spiritual knowledge, and Ma'rifat (Recognition of Allah) to achieve human completeness. Speakers noted their profound influence on culture, language, and literature through their respective Persian and Punjabi works.
During the sixth session on moral perspectives, scholars discussed the necessity of overcoming the ego (Nafs-e-Ammara) through spiritual mentorship and adopting a positive, humanistic approach to society. Rumi’s poem "Guest House" was cited to illustrate treating the vulnerable with respect and love.
The seventh session examined cultural impacts, noting how Sufis shaped regional cultures and promoted universal human friendship while respecting cultural diversity. The concluding session emphasized national unity, the preservation of literary spirit across Urdu, Persian, and Arabic translations, and the enduring need for peace, self-purification, and human dignity in the contemporary world.
